Sparta, Wisconsin · Since 2019
The John Harrison Angel Fund continues one Sparta man’s simple act of kindness: asking his neighbors to help children eat at school.
The message that keeps the work moving. The beginning

In spring 2019, John Harrison stood near the Walgreens corner in Sparta and collected what neighbors were willing to give toward children’s school meals.
John knew what it was like to go hungry. He began the collection as part of his Faith Riders ministry, choosing a need he could serve in his own community while his chapter was based in Chippewa Falls.
He raised about $3,000 before his unexpected death that June. John’s family and community carried his $10,000 goal past the finish line by August. His family went on to raise more than $28,000 over three years.
